# Medical RP Guidelines

Keep giving Medical RP to our EMS and Hospital Staff at the forefront of your mind. There are times when, of course, it doesn't make sense for RP to lead to getting state employees involved, but **we want to encourage you to give these important members of our community RP whenever possible.**

* Keep in mind that, in most situations, transporting a person with a serious injury yourself would endanger their well-being much more than letting a professional handle it. If there are no EMS on duty, of course, getting them to the hospital ASAP is a reasonable course of action.
* In order to know whether State Services are available, it is recommended that you use /311 or /911 instead of just the hotkey prompt to call for help. If you use the slash commands, players will have the ability to respond and tell you that they're on the way.

**It is law that hospitals must report gunshot wounds admitted into their care. If you are injured by a gun and end up in the hospital without interacting with any member of State Services, please open a ticket with a report.**

* The report should include, but shall not be limited to, the following:
 * The name of the injured person, if a name was given to local hospital staff or they would have found an ID on their person.
 * Whether the injured person is still in hospital
 * The character and extent of the person’s injuries. (basic number and severity of bullet wounds)
 * The identity of any person the injured person alleges inflicted the wounds if the injured person would have said anything to local hospital staff.

*EMS and Hospital Staff players should consult their superiors about policies on the extent of medical care they can provide legally when off the clock and always keep in mind basic medical ethics and liability concerns.*
